Thanks to the good people at FERDIE, earlier this week we got a chance to meet with designer Christophe Pillet who was in Montreal to give a special presentation (which we also attended, above). Pillet is an accessible human being and an engaging, thoughtful speaker. We completely enjoyed the interview he gave us as well as the FERDIE presentation. He's currently working on several projects at the same time, each worthy of attention, thus over the next week we will be posting the interview and some choice items from his extensive portfolio of work in progress. We begin today with some work he has done for Mazzega, an Italian lighting manufacturer. As he said in his presentation, with Mazzega, he had the opportunity to take the centuries old glass tradition of Murano and create some contemporary pieces that respect that tradition and yet are thoroughly of this century. We agree.
