Tord Boontje has just designed Icarus, a new light for Artecnica. In the past Boontje has focused primarily on exploring the realms of nature. This light does that as well, but with a hint of ancient mythology. “Through experimentation with cutting paper to create a dimensional form for light, we discovered a structure with overlapping feather shapes that resembled a swan’s wing. We made the form asymmetrical to emphasize this and to make it very dynamic,” explains Boontje. Well done! SMK
