Design site Designboom held an international competition in conjunction with Koelnmesse, the Cologne design show, earlier this year exploring the concept of kitchen. 2,988 designers from 102 countries submitted designs, mostly 3D art but some of it built. 85 submissions were chosen in categories such as Ambient, Detail and Product. All 85 are published in a beautifully designed book that Designboom had printed and ready in time for ICFF in May - which is where I bought mine. While not a big book, 64 pages and six inches square, it is chock full of inspiring kitchen design. You can actually see all the winners on the web, but I find the book does a better job of presenting all the designs. Paperback, 64 pages, highly illustrated, $12 through Designboom.
