The HOME House Project : The Future of Affordable Housing
by / May 22, 2005

Launched in 2003 by the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the HOME House Project challenged designers and architects to create, on paper, affordable homes that were both well-designed and environmentally friendly. The open competition drew 440 entries from the US and six other countries, all using Habitat for Humanity's three- and four-bedroom house plans as a point of departure. 25 prize-winning designs and 50 other selected submissions are documented in this book. None of it is built, but the well illustrated designs are very compelling and will no doubt provide inspiration for anyone looking to build their own MoCo design home. Paperback, 128 pages, 396 color illustrations, $16.47 at Amazon.
