The first Modern House was published in 1993, MH3 offers up more contemporary residential architecture. 33 houses in 15 countries by names like Tadao Ando, Richard Meier, Glenn Murcutt (Nick Murcutt pater), John Hejduk, and happily, the majority are lesser knowns such as Sean Godsell*, Sarah Wigglesworth and Julie Snow. The book has three sections/themes; "Merging Inside and Out" architecture/landscape integration, "Reimagining the Program" re-thinking home life, and "Materials, Craft, Technology" new materials + technologies. Each section begins with an essay introducing the theme and how it relates to the houses shown and each of the 33 projects is accompanied by a 500-to-700-word description that covers the design concept, site, building technologies and materials.
