Off The Grid House
by Admin1 / July 18, 2004

Self-sustained, sustainable construction modern house.
"Off grid means that we are not connected to the electrical grid, water, sewer or gas mains." And it's made out of straw. Plus it's modern. Built by web developer and designer Glen Hunter, the house features solar collectors, a wind generator and passive solar heating thanks to ample, strategically placed windows. Propane supplies the back-up energy. The house is beautifully sited on former farmland and forest just North of Toronto. The full story, including lots of pictures of the house under construction can be found on Glen's website. Thanks Glen!
