Modernist prefab home alternative.
The Glidehouse is a prefabricated modernist house designed by architect Michelle Kaufmann that can be built almost anywhere in North America. It offers an affordable, low-maintenance, well-designed green housing alternative to traditional stick built construction. Starting at $120 sq. ft., the price is competitive. It is the first modernist design offered by a modular home manufacturer in North America. The first Glidehouse is now built, it was the featured exhibit at Sunset magazine's Celebration Weekend in CA last May. Michelle Kaufmann introduces Glidehouse 2, the 2-story version. Via Livemodern.
