Why do smoke alarms have to all look alike? They don’t, at least not according to designer Jacob Jenson. His gray and black smoke alarm design stands out not only for it’s exterior design, but for what's inside as well. A microprocessor that’s programmed for daily alarm checks adjusts the unit’s sensitivity for optimal smoke detection – it beeps you when it needs cleaning. You can even manually reduce sensitivity for up to ten minutes for smoke arising from a cold fireplace or while cooking in the kitchen.
