The book is an exploration of 50 "distinctive and timeless" homes that combine a contemporary design aesthetic and comfortable living. Author Jeremiah Eck, an architect and landscape painter, identifies four elements for a distinctive home; its site, floor-plan, exterior face and details. The book proceeds to demonstrate how these four elements should balance each other and the world around them.
