Digital Dawn Window Lamp

Window blind that glows in the dark using electroluminescence. Digital Dawn is a window shade that functions as an ambient light that illuminates the darker your space becomes. It works as a traditional window blind but has a reactive surface that digitally emulates the process of photosynthesis using electroluminescent technology. Using electronically conductive and phosphorous printing inks that emit light with electricity, light dependant sensors monitor the changing ambient light levels of the space triggering the development of the organic foliage on the blind. London-based designer Rachel Wingfield created loop to “explore reactive surfaces in the built environment”. Other designs include a bedcovering and tablecloths that glow. The electroluminescent technology is made by Elumin8 Systems.
