It’s a sofa… chair(s). Made by Italy’s Edra and designed by Setsu and Shinobu Ito, the Au sofa/chair combo is made for interaction. In Japanese, Au means meeting. The two parts that form Au resemble the yin and yan symbol and can be combined in many ways. Au is made of molded polyurethane foam covered with a stretch fabric. It has a leather rest which has a molded plastic base underneath it. The largest element is 76cm H x 146cm W at the top x 130cm D and the smaller is 70cm H x 116cm W x 92cm D.
